# Licenses

> How USAC, UCI, and other sanctioning-body licenses are checked at registration.

Many sanctioned events require a valid racing **license**. Time2Bike checks for one during registration and offers a **one-day license** when the race allows it.

## When a license is required

If the event is permitted by a sanctioning body (USAC, UCI, or a custom one), the organizer has marked **License required** on the race. You'll see a license panel on the **Review & pay** step.

If the event isn't sanctioned, this whole flow is skipped.

## Already have an annual license

Enter your license number. Time2Bike verifies it with the sanctioning body in the background:

* **Verified** — green check, you're done. No extra fee.
* **Couldn't verify** — you can re-type the number, or buy a one-day license instead.

A previously verified license is remembered on your participant profile, so a renewal each season is the only time you'll be asked.

## Buy a one-day license

When the race allows one-day licenses, you can skip the annual license and pay the one-day fee instead. Pick the tier the organizer offers:

* **Beginner** — typically Cat 5 / novice events.
* **Experienced** — Cat 4 and up.

The fee is added to your order. After the event, the organizer files the one-day license with the sanctioning body on your behalf.

<Note>
  One-day licenses cover **this event only**. If you race a lot, an annual license usually pays for itself.
</Note>

## UCI events

UCI-permitted events don't accept one-day licenses. You'll need a valid UCI license number to register.

## Where licenses appear later

* On your **rider profile** (under **Account → Profile**) so you only enter the number once.
* In the organizer's license report after the event, which they use to submit the one-day filings.
