# Reusing or requesting a plate

> Keep your series plate from event to event, or request a new one when you need it.

When you register for a race in a **series** that allows plate re-use, Time2Bike asks whether you want to **keep your existing plate** or **request a new one**.

You'll see this question on the **Review & pay** step, just above the discount code field — one row per rider on the order.

## Re-using your plate

The default. Pick this if you still have your plate from a previous race in the series. Your assigned number flows through automatically — no extra fee, no extra step at registration check-in.

## Requesting a new plate

Pick **Need a new plate** if you've lost or damaged your plate, or you're new to the series. The organizer's **replacement plate fee** (set by the series) is added to your order.

After payment, your registration shows up on the organizer's **Bibs** page as a **Plate request**. They:

1. Assign you a new number (or confirm your old one).
2. Print or pull a plate for race-day check-in.
3. Mark the request complete.

You'll see the assigned number on your **Registration** page once they've finished.

## Cancellations and refunds

If the organizer can't fulfill the request (you cancel, race is cancelled, etc.) they can refund the replacement plate fee from the request — it doesn't require a full registration refund.

## Where this is configured

* The **series** sets whether re-use is allowed and what the replacement fee is — see [Series plates](/organizers/series/series-plates).
* Individual **races** in the series inherit that policy when their `bibSource` is `series` or `series_then_manual` — see [Bibs](/organizers/events/bibs).
