# Sharing live results

> Let spectators follow along while you're still timing.

Results don't have to wait for the finish. Flip one switch and you get a public
link that updates as you record — for the crowd at the finish, parents at home,
and the announcer.

## Turning it on

Press **Share live results** in the footer of the timing screen. It turns green
and a **Spectator link** button appears next to it — that's the URL to share.

Press it again to turn sharing off. Nothing is lost either way; you're only
deciding what the public can see.

## What spectators get

The event's live results page, updating within about a second of you recording:

* Finishers in order, per race, with times.
* Riders still out on course.
* Marked as **unofficial** — they're watching a race in progress, not a result.

They don't need an account, and they can't change anything.

## Choosing how much detail to show

**Timer setup → How I am timing → What the public sees** controls what appears
beyond the finishing time, on both the live page and published results:

Your timing screens always show everything you recorded — this is only about
what spectators see.

  Anything switched off is **never sent to the browser**, so it's withheld rather
  than merely hidden from the page.

Worth turning splits off when a post went unstaffed for part of the day. Half a
field with splits and half without reads as a rider problem to a spectator, when
it's really a marshal who had to leave.

## Where to put the link

* Post it to your event's social page the morning of.
* Text it to your announcer.
* Put a QR code on the finish-line banner.
* Riders can also reach it from the event page at `time2.bike/events/[slug]/live`.

## Live sharing vs publishing

Two different things, and it's worth being clear which you've done:

Once you publish, the live-sharing switch disappears — published results replace
it.

<Tip>
  Turn live sharing on and leave it on all day. It costs you nothing, cuts down
  the number of people asking you for times at the tent, and gives riders'
  families something to watch.

## If you'd rather not

Some organizers prefer to show nothing until results are official — fewer
questions about a time that later gets corrected. Leave the switch alone and
nothing is public until you publish.
