# Adding riders on the day

> Day-of entries, drop-ins, and riders who never registered — without leaving the timing screen.

Somebody turns up on the morning, pays cash at the tent, and needs a number.
You don't have to send them through registration, and you don't need signal.

From the timing screen: **More actions → Add riders**.

> !!-IMAGE-NEEDED-!! — The Add riders panel with a bib, name, and team filled in.

## What you enter

| Field           | Notes                                                      |
| --------------- | ---------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Bib** | The number they'll wear. This is how they'll be timed |
| **Name** | Shown on the start list and in results |
| **Team / club** | Optional, shown next to their name |
| **Race** | Which race they're entering. Defaults to the one you're on |

They appear on the roster immediately and can be timed like anybody else.

<Note>
  **This works offline.** Rider added at a trailhead with no bars will sync up
  with everything else when you get signal back. It's designed for exactly the
  moment you can't reach a registration page.
</Note>

## What it doesn't do

Adding a rider here puts them in the *race*, not through *registration*. It
doesn't:

* Take payment.
* Collect a waiver signature.
* Ask your custom questions.
* Create a Time2Bike account for them.

So it's the right tool for a rider you're handling on paper at the tent, and the
wrong tool for someone who should have registered properly.

<Warning>
  Whatever your event needs for insurance — a signed waiver, a day licence, an
  emergency contact — collect it on paper before you hand over a number. The
  timing screen doesn't ask for any of it.
</Warning>

If you'd rather they went through the full flow, use
[manual entry](/organizers/registrations/manual-entry) on the registrations page
instead. That takes payment, waivers, and questions properly — but it needs a
connection.

## Who can do it

Organization members can always add riders. It's also the one administrative
action a **volunteer link** can be given, because an assistant coach or a
registration volunteer on a borrowed phone is often exactly the person who needs
to enter a drop-in.

Everything else in **More actions** stays organization-members-only.

## Cleaning up afterwards

Riders added this way show in your results like everyone else. If you took money
from them, record it separately — the timing screen isn't a till, and nothing
you enter here reaches your Stripe account.
